KING OF SWEDEN – “Out of the Tunnel” – 2024
King of Sweden is a Helsinki-based Finnish progressive rock band, founded in late 2019 by guitarist and singer Sampsa Nelimarkka, drummer Janne Savela and bass player Erkka Heinilä. The band recorded their first album as a three-piece in December 2019. In 2020, the trio became part of the Golden Robot Records family as the King of Sweden signed to its sister, Crusader Records. King of Sweden’s first album The Training was released in October 2021 alongside a music video Dreaming About the Emerald. King of Sweden went through line-up changes in 2022-2023 and became a four-piece as the power trio was completed with a keyboardist/rhythm guitarist. Now the band returned with a new album “Out of the Tunnel”, maybe better than the first one, their music is very influenced by such classic era progressive rock bands as Camel, Genesis, King Crimson, Yes, and Pink Floyd. King of Sweden’s music has been described as deeply rooted and energetic progressive rock, combining the old vintage sound with modern Prog-Rock. King of Sweden’s second full-length album “Out of the Tunnel” is deeply rooted in the old and classic progressive rock.
BEARDFISH – “Songs For Beating Hearts” – 2024
Beardfish comes from Gävle, Sweden, and was formed in 2001 by guitarist David Zackrisson and singer, guitarist, and keyboardist Rikard SJÖBLOM. The group includes bassist Robert Hansen and drummer Magnus Östgren. The first album was recorded as a quintet with Stefan Aronsson on keyboards and flute. Their primary influences are a diverse range of Zappa, King Crimson, and Gentle Giant. Sweden’s Beardfish disbanded in 2016 but after about five years they began conversations about reuniting. It turned out that these long-time friends missed being with each other and making music together. After nearly nine years apart, Swedish prog rock legends Beardfish are back with a new album “Songs For Beating Hearts” which is a glowing testament to the magic that happens when these four musicians join forces. “Songs For Beating Hearts” is the first new music from Beardfish in nine years, but as its many magical moments unfold, it is as if the band had never been away.
THE FLYING NORSEMEN – “The Flying Norsemen” – 2024
The Flying Norsemen, a band with deep roots in Trøndelag, Norway. It comprises three original members from the band “Arabs In Aspic” and was produced by Jostein Smeby, so it’s hard not to hear some old Arabs In Aspic sound on this record. The group released its first album in September called The Flying Norsemen. The music draws inspiration from 1970s rock, with strong elements of Progressive Rock, Stoner, Doom, and Psychedelia. Woven are vocal harmonies and melodic gems that sparkle like diamonds in the rough. According to some critics, the album takes the listener on a sonic journey, a hazy exploration of the depths of emotion and consciousness. From the thunderous riffs that shake the earth to the melodies that float on the astral plane, the band has crafted a sound that is their own. With their first release, The Flying Norsemen have declared their presence in the dynamic realm of Modern Progressive Rock music, emerging as a new revelation and a formidable entity. Prepare for a sound voyage that promises to take you on an incredible and dreamy journey. The Line-Up consists of Anders Sprauten – Guitars & vocals, Tommy Ingebrigtsen – Guitar, John Wærnes – Lead Guitar & vocals, Terje Nyhus – Bass and Øyvind Grønn – Drums.
